Work experience
Connector/Tuhono -Enabling Good Lives
2015 - 2017
Enabling Good Lives is a pilot project that gives people with disability, and family/whānau, control over their support funds. My role included planning, supported self assessment, budget support, community development, and engaging with schools and providers.
Midland Regional Coordinator -People First
2013 - 2015
People First is a self-advocacy organisation for people with learning disability. My role was to set up, source funding for, and oversee advocacy groups around the region. This included recruiting and coordinating staff and volunteers; and writing funding applications, and accountability reports. During this time I facilitated two leadership programs, one of which was used as an example in a global review called Intellectual Disabilities: Raising Awareness and Combating Stigma. I also co-facilitated numerous Speaking Up courses as part of People First’s adult education arm.
Support Worker -Idea Services, Career Moves, Interactionz
2011 - 2014
I have been a support worker for various organisations, including Career Moves where I assisted people with disability to gain employment.
